PELUM Kenya in partnership with the Sub-County government- Mwala and the lead PELUM Kenya MO-Inades Formation Kenya held an organic food day on the World Food Day (16th October 2015) at Mwala Sub-County- Machakos County. The organic food fair was attended by approximately 200 farmers and other like minded stakeholders. The organic food fair was preceded by a procession enlightening the general public on the importance of organic foods and farming. Later, exhibition by the small scale farmers and the Ministry of Agriculture. Value addition processes on various organic products was also exhibited. The Guest of Honour was the Deputy Director Ministry of Agriculture, Machakos County. The winners of the organic food “selfies”- Ms. Brenda Lomosi and Ms. Electin Auma were awarded. The participants also got a chance to enjoy a plate of organic food. The event was aired during the news highlights by the local media stations- Musyi FM and brief report of the same captured in the Daily nation on 18th October 2015.
